OPL system training

TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
Customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Caution-All power cords must be disconnected to completely remove power from server.
Caution- Use proper ESD grounding techniques when handling components.
1. Power off server.
Turn key switch to Service position, confirm that POWER LED off, and disconnect power cables.
Caution-To prevent equipment rack from tipping over, deploy anti-tilt feature, if applicable, before sliding server out of rack.
Note: When drawing out server to front,release cable tie holding PCI cables at rear of server.
2. Remove fan cover
Deploy rack's anti-tilt features (if applicable), slide server out of rack, remove the 60-mm fan units & remove fan cover.
Removing Hard Disk Drive Backplane of Server
1. Remove CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Unit & place on ESD mat.
2. Remove power & serial cables from rear of CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane.
3. Loosen captive screw holding rear of CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane in place.
4. Remove CD-RW/DVD-RW backplane & place on ESD mat.
5. Remove hard disk drives & place on ESD mat.
6. Remove power cable (p3) from rear of HDD backplane.
7. Loosen captive screw that holding faulty HDD backplane in place.
8. Lift HDD backplane from guide pins
9. Remove blue serial cable from HDD backplane & place the backplane on ESD mat.
10. Secure blue serial cable to new HDD backplane.
11. Place hard disk drive backplane onto guide pins.
12. Tighten captive screw that holds down the rear of HDD backplane in place.
13. Secure power cable (p3) to rear of HDD backplane.
Caution-Do not force any components into server slots. Doing so can cause damage to component & server.
14. Install hard disk drives.
15. Place CD-RW/DVD-RW backplane onto guide pin.
16. Tighten captive screw holding the rear of CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane in place.
17. Connect power & serial cables to rear of CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Backplane.
18. Install CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Unit.
19. Install fan cover.
Replace fan cover, install 60-mm fan units, slide server into rack & restore rack anti-tilt features to original position.
20. Power server on.
Move keyswitch to Locked position.
21. Confirm hardware fix.
Run programs to be certain all components are mounted again & boot OS

xscf> showstatus
xscf> showhardconf -M

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot system & start application per sys-admin procedure
