FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Turn key switch to Service position, confirming that POWER LED is off, and disconnect power cables
2. Remove top cover

Remove I/O unit

1. Disconnect & label all cables that connect to I/O unit
2. Remove cassettes from I/O unit
3. Using a No. 1 screwdriver, press lock button on left side of I/O unit to free unit release lever
4. Lower release lever to unseat I/O unit
5. Remove I/O unit from slot and place on ESD mat

Remove XSCF unit

Remove Motherboard unit

1. Remove all CPU modules & filler panels
2. Loosen two captive screws that secure motherboard unit handle in place

4. Disconnect power cables from storage device backplanes
5. Remove cables from plastic cable router
6. Loosen backplane end of ground cable & disconnect cable
7. Loosen 8 green captive screws that hold backplane unit in position
The screws can be accessed through the now empty power supply unit sockets
8. Angle backplane unit and then pull it partially out of the server
Reach one hand through power supply opening and disconnect grey operator panel cable from backplane unit
9. Remove backplane unit & place it on ESD mat

Installation is the reverse of the above procedure

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Boot & check for full functionality

Confirm hardware fix by running the following commands:
XSCF> showhardconf -M
XSCF> showstatus
