How to replace a V215/V245 System Fan Tray Connector Board

Solution

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Nothing beyond basic product training.

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
System Fan Tray Connector Board is faulty.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution
Customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown
Power down System & disconnect Power Cords

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge

1. Power off the system.
2. Open the front cover door
3. Remove the fan trays.
Only remove the fan trays that are necessary to remove the defective fan tray
connector board.
4. Remove the Phillips screws that secure the fan tray connector boards to the
chassis
5. Slide the fan tray connector boards to the right to disengage them from the
front I/O board.
6. Remove the fan tray connector boards and place the boards on an antistatic
mat.
7. Unpackage the replacement fan tray connector boards and place the boards on
an antistatic mat.
8. Lower the boards into place and slide the boards to the left to plug the boards
into the front I/O board.
9. Secure the boards to the chassis with the Phillips screws.
10. Reinstall the fan trays.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot the system and start the application as per the sys admin procedure
