How to replace a V215/V245 System Fan Tray

No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure

*REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS*
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty Fan
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer is not required to perform a system shutdown.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED:
1. Determine which fan tray needs to be removed
The following indicators are lit when a fan tray fault is detected:
Front and rear Service Required indicators
Top Fan indicator on the front of the server
Fan Fault indicator on the faulty fan
2. Open the front cover door and identify the faulty fan tray
A lit Fan Fault indicator on the top of a fan tray indicates that the fan tray is faulty
3. Pull up on the fan tray handle until the fan tray is removed from the chassis
4. Insert the new fan tray, apply firm pressure to fully seat the fan tray.
5. Confirm that the new fan tray is working. The fay tray indicator should be green
6. Verify that the Fan Fault indicator on the replaced fan tray is not lit. Also
verify that the Top Fan indicator, Service Required indicators, and the Locator
indicator/Locator button are not lit
7. Close the front cover door
8. If necessary, return the server to its normal position in the rack.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Check Fan tray LEDs
