WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
SE450 product knowledge/training to be qualified as Oracle service personel.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty DC-DC Converter

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord. Then Position the System for Service, Remove the Left Side Panel, Avoid Electrostatic Discharge.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

REMOVAL:
If you are removing a DC/DC converter from socket DC-A1 or DC-B1, you need to remove the two DIMMs closest to the DC/DC converter.
1. Push up the holding clips that secure the DC/DC converter module in place.  The clips are located on each side of the module. Push up the clip on one side first, then the other.
2. Pull the DC/DC converter module all the way out of the slot.  Grab the metal plate on each side and pull out the converter.
3. Place the DC/DC converter on an antistatic mat.

INSTALLATION:
If you are installing a DC/DC converter in socket DC-A1 or DC-B1, you need to remove the two DIMMs closest to the DC/DC converter socket.  DC/DC converter modules must be installed in specific locations corresponding to the CPU module locations.

1. Locate the socket into which you will install the DC/DC converter.

2. Push the DC/DC converter into the socket.
When the converter is properly seated, the two white holding clips will automatically close to secure it.

3. If Memory Modules removed Install all Memory Module

4. Install the Left Side Panel

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
