450 Graphics Card Replacement
Solution
DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
SE450 product knowledge/training to be qualified as Oracle service personel.
TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty Graphics Card
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord. Then Position the System for Service, Remove the Left Side Panel, Avoid Electrostatic Discharge.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Removal:
1. Disconnect any cables attached to the graphics card's faceplate.
2. Disconnect any internal cables that limit access to the graphics card.
Be sure that the cables are labeled.
3. Disconnect the graphics card from its connector socket(s).
Grasp the card at both corners and pull it away from the main logic board to
disconnect it from the socket(s).
4. Rotate the right side of the card toward you to release the card from the rear
panel.
5. Lift the card out of the chassis.
Place the card on an antistatic mat.
6. If you are not replacing the graphics card immediately, install a filler panel:
a. Insert the filler panel into the tabs on the rear panel.
b. Squeeze the spring clip and rotate the filler panel toward the rear panel until it
locks in place
Installation:
1. Holding the graphics card at an angle to align it with the tabs on its
opening(s) in the rear panel.
3. Swing the right side of the card toward its connector(s) on the main logic board.
4. Push the card into its connector(s).
Push evenly at both right corners of the card so that it is fully seated.
5. Reconnect any internal cables that you disconnected to access the graphics card.
6. Connect any external cables to the graphics card.
7. Install the Left Side Panel
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
