PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty Service Processor

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. If the system controller is accessible note the configuration settings
2. Power off the server
3. Remove the main cover
Caution ! The system supplies power to the system controller card even when the
system is powered off. To avoid personal injury or damage to the system controller
card, you must disconnect the AC power cords before servicing the system controller
card or any of its components.
4. Locate the Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) system controller card.
5. Remove the system controller card from its slot.
Hold the card by its edges.
Caution ! The IDPROM can be dislodged easily. Ensure the IDPROM is not
dislodged from the system controller during handling.
6. Place the system controller card on an anti-static mat.
7. Install the new system controller
8. Replace the main cover
9. Power on
10. Reconfigure the system controller as required

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
