Solution
DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
This Action Plan requires the use of a coin cell battery which the FE will usually supply. In some instances, the FE may contact dispatch to request that the battery be ordered.
FE INSTRUCTIONS
This action plan requires the use of a coin cell battery. The coin cell battery should be retrieved from your personal stock of coin cell batteries. If you cannot readily obtain the correct quantity of these batteries, please contact dispatch to arrange for order.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty Battery
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Power off the server
2. Remove the main cover
Caution ! The system supplies power to the system controller card even when the
system is powered off. To avoid personal injury or damage to the system controller
card, you must disconnect the AC power cords before servicing the system controller
card or any of its components.
3. Locate the Advanced Lights Out Manager (ALOM) system controller card.
4. Remove the system controller card from its slot.
Hold the card by its edges.
Caution ! The IDPROM can be dislodged easily. Ensure the IDPROM is not
dislodged from the system controller during handling.
5. Place the system controller card on an anti-static mat.
6. Press the battery mounting tabs away from the battery.
7. Remove the battery from its receptacle on the system controller card.
8. Insert the new battery into the carrier.
Ensure the positive +ve side of the battery is facing inward.
9. Press firmly and evenly to seat the battery on the system controller card.
The latch in the connector clicks into place when the battery is seated correctly.
10. Re-install the system controller
11. Replace the main cover
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot and check for full functionality
