WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED:
No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure
TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 0
*REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS*
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty graphic card
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED:
1. Powering off the system
2. Remove the rear cover
3. Remove the air baffle
4. Locate the graphic card that you want to remove
5. If necessary, make a note of where the graphic card is installed
6. Release the PCI hold-down bracket
7. Carefully remove the graphic card from the PCI card slot and riser board connector
8. Place the graphic card on an antistatic mat
9. Insert the new graphic card into the slot
10.Rotate the PCI hold-down bracket 90 degrees to lock the card in place
11.If a PCI long card is installed, use the brace from the air baffle to support the card
12.Install the rear cover.
13.Powering on the system
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
