Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner TASK COMPLEXITY: 2 TIME ESTIMATE: 60 mins FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Power Distribution Board failure WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : Disconnect the power chords WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: Caution - Disconnect all power cords before performing this procedure. Note - You must remove all four power supplies and both hard drive fan trays (FT4 and FT5) before performing this procedure. Complete these tasks: 1. Power off the server 2. Remove the Top Cover 3. Avoiding Electrostatic Discharge 4. Remove the Fan Tray 5. Remove the CPU/Memory Module 6. Remove a PCI Card 7. Remove the System Controller Card 8. Remove the Multilane Data Cable Connector Board 9. Remove the CPU/Memory Module Bracket 10.Remove the Motherboard 11. Loosen the captive screw securing the power distribution board to the power supply cage. 12. Slide the power distribution board up and off its retaining pins. 13. Lift the power distribution board up and out of the chassis. 14. Install the Power Distribution Board 15. Align the mounting holes on the power distribution board with the corresponding pins on the power supply cage. 16. Slide the power distribution board down onto its mounting studs. 17. Tighten the Phillips captive screw on the power distribution board. Note - Ensure the screw is secured tightly. Caution - High Leakage Current. To prevent leakage current in excess of 3.5 mA, a maximum of two power cords can be connected to a single branch circuit. The remaining two power cords must be connected to a different branch circuit. To reassemble the system, complete the following tasks: 18. Installing the Motherboard 19. Installing the CPU/Memory Module Bracket 20. Installing the System Controller Card 21. Installing a PCI Card 22. Installing a CPU/Memory Module 23. Installing the Multilane Data Cable Connector Board 24. Installing a Fan Tray 25. Installing the Top Cover 26. Installing the System Into the Cabinet 27. Powering On the System OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Boot the system and start the application as per the sys admin procedure PARTS NOTE: REFERENCE INFORMATION: Sun Fire V445 Server Service Manual. http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19088-01/ Attachments This solution has no attachment |
