Starcat Training
Knowledge of SMS commands

TASK COMPLEXITY: 4

TIME ESTIMATE: 240 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

N/A

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1) Power off the entire system

- Shut down all domain

domain_name# shutdown -y -g <seconds> -i 0

- Power off all boards except the power supplies, fans, and the SCs.

sc% poweroff

- shutdown the spare SC then power off the spare SC from the main SC

spare_sc# shutdown -y -g <seconds> -i 0

sc% poweroff SCx (SCx is the spare SC)

- Shut down the main SC

sc# shutdown -y -g <second> -i 0

- Power off the AC0 and AC1 circuit breaker for all power supplies

- Disconnect the twelve AC power cords

2) Remove the interconnect board from the chassis (Following the repair procedures described in the service manual)

3) Install the interconnect board into the chassis (Following the repair procedures described in the service manual)

4) Power on the system controller

- Connect the AC power cords and all I/O cables

- Power on the AC0 and AC1, both SCs will begin booting.

5) Power on the centerplane support board

- Power on the centerplane support board and calibrate its temperature

sc% thermcal -w scx

- Update the system SEEPROMs

sc% updateeeprom <platformtype> <value>

- Restart SMS

sc% /etc/init.d/sms stop

sc% /etc/init.d/sms start

- If previously deconfigured the system bus, enable both buses

sc% setbus -c cs0,cs1

6) Power on the domain

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
