DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS ARE REQUIRED?: No special skills required, Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) procedure TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS: PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Fan Module Failure WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: N/A Fans are hot-swappable CRUs and can be replaced while the server is running, if there is enough clearance to open the fan door (otherwise the system needs to be shut down) CAUTION: The system might start to overheat if the top cover door is left open for more than 60 seconds.
WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED?: 1) Remove a Fan Module 1. Extend the server to the maintenance position. 2) Install a Fan Module 1. With the top cover door open, install the replacement fan module into the server.
