DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

This component is an FRU and should be replaced only by qualified service technicians.

DELIVERY REQUIREMENT:

As required by the customer.

TIME ESTIMATE: 150 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Shut down the system.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1.- Backup the Service Processor configuration for restore after replacement.  To do this via the WebGui login via placing the Service Processor IP address in a Browser URL.  Login with a user that has "aucro" permissions.  Once logged in navigate to the Maintenance tab -> Backup/Restore tab.  On the Backup/Restore tab choose Backup from the Operation dropdown, and choose the transfer type from the Transfer Method dropdown (Browser is the default and recommended option).  Choose a Passphrase and then re-enter in the Confirm Passphrase field and hit the Run button to initiate the backup.  Then hit the OK button from the popup window.  This will create a config_backup.xml file.  Save this file for later use to restore the configuration after blade replacement.

For instructions on Backup/Restore via another method like CLI reference the ILOM Guides located here:

http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19860-01/index.html

2.- Power off the server and remove the server module from the chassis

3.- Remove the main cover

4.- Use the procedures to remove components from the motherboard and install the components on the new motherboard.

5.- When the components are installed in the new motherboard, install the cover on the server module, and insert the server module into the chassis.

6.- When all the parts are installed use the config_backup.xml file created earlier to restore the service processor configuration.  Access the new blade Service Processor via logging into the CMM WebBui using a user with "aucro" permissions.  Click on the blade from the chassis view.  Once on the blade Service Processor navigate to the Maintenance tab -> Backup/Restore tab.  On the Backup/Restore tab choose Restore from the Operation dropdown, and choose the transfer type from the Transfer Method dropdown (Browser is the default and recommended option).  Once Restore is chosen in the dropdown a Select File browser field appears, find and select the saved config_backup.xml file.  Enter the Passphrase chosen in step 1, and re-enter in the Confirm Passphrase field and hit the Run button.  Then hit OK on the popup window to approve the restore function.  This may cause you to be logged out, requiring re-login again.  Confirm the correct configuration was restored to the Service Processor.

7.- Once the configuration is restored update the BIOS and firmware to either the latest or at least to the same level as the previous server module.

Make sure to verify the bios/firmware version as we have seen some motherboards have very old versions.

To reprogram the serial number of the motherboard, refer to the procedure described in <Document 1385847.1>.

NOTE: Always use the original serial number when replacing any blade. Do not program the serial number from the handle of the replacement.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart the server

PARTS NOTE:

The motherboard is shipped installed in a server module enclosure. Do not remove the motherboard from the enclosure. Instead, remove components from the old motherboard and enclosure assembly, and install these components into the new motherboard and enclosure assembly.
