FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

CAP PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
How to Remove and Replace a Centerplane


WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software and system shutdown.
System power off is required.

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
*** Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
1. Remove the front bezel, front door and rear screen panel

2. Remove any assemblies above and below the Enterprise system

3. Remove all the boards and power supplies

4. Disconnect any remaining cables from the Enterprise system main cabinet

Remember the proper orientation of the centerplane when removing it from the front chassis.

Use care when lifting the Enterprise system chassis. It weighs approximately 100 pounds.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
After replacing the centerplane, power on the system and run the extended POST to ensure the hardware integrity.
