T2000/Netra T2000, product knowledge/training to be qualified as Oracle service personel.

TIME ESTIMATE: 150 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Failed DVD drive

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 5"), and after the system has shut down run the following commands from the ALOM:

1. setlocator on
2. poweroff

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Verify the system has been shut down by the customer.

2. Gain access to the top of the server. If it is necessary to slide the server forward, ensure adequate cable management is in place so that cables do not become disconnected or damaged.

3. Open the top cover, following ESD procedures.

4. Remove the DVD interconnect board from the back of the DVD drive.  This can be made easier if a small plastic probe is inserted into the opening at the back of the optical media drive.

5. Press the release latch and pull the DVD drive out of the chassis.  Place it on an antistatic mat.

6. Hold the tab to the left and slide the replacement DVD drive into the front of the chassis.

7. Replace the DVD interconnect board on the back of the DVD drive.
