FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Replacement of LED/Switch board

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 5"), and after the system has shut down run the following commands from the ALOM:

1. setlocator on
2. poweroff

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Remove the LED board:

1. Verify the system has been shut down by the customer.

2. Gain access to the top of the server. If it is necessary to slide the server forward, ensure adequate cable management is in place so that cables do not become disconnected or damaged.

3. Open the top cover, following ESD procedures

4. Remove the three fan modules

5. Remove the screws that secure the LED board to the chassis

6. Slide the LED board to the right to disconnect it from the front I/O board.

Install new LED board:

1. Install replacement LED board into the chassis, secured by sliding it to the left.

2. Secure the two screws removed earlier.

3. Replace the three fan modules removed earlier

4. Replace the top cover (be aware of the chassis intrusion switch, located to the left when standing in front of the T2000).

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE:
Visually inspect the new LED/Switch board.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: N/A

PARTS NOTE:
The LED/Switch board is located at the front left of the server (when viewed from the front), behind the front panel.
