DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
T5120/T5220 product knowledge/training to be qualified as Oracle service personnel.
TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Connector Board Install/Replacement
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc). If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1) Remove the Connector Board Assembly
1. Power off the system.
2. Attach an antistatic wrist strap.
3. Remove the system from the rack.
4. Remove the top chassis cover.
5. Remove the fan modules.
6. Remove both fan boards.
7. Remove the motherboard assembly.
8. Remove both power supplies.
9. Remove the power distribution board.
10. Using a No. 1 Phillips screwdriver, loosen and remove the two screws on the midwall that secure the connector board to the chassis as shown in panel 1 of Removing the Connector Board Assembly.
11. Slide the connector board back, away from the energy storage backplane and tilt it away from the side of the chassis as shown in panels 2 and 3 of Removing the Connector Board Assembly.
12. Disconnect the cable that connects the board to the PDB and lift the board up and out of the system as shown in panel 4 of Removing the Connector Board Assembly.
2) Install a Connector Board Assembly
1. Insert the cable that connects the board to the PDB, lower the new connector board into the chassis at a slight angle, and tilt it back toward the side of the chassis until it is vertical as shown in panels 1 and 2 of Installing the Connector Board Assembly.
2. Slide the connector board forward toward the energy storage backplane until it plugs into the backplane as shown in panel 3 of Installing the Connector Board Assembly.
3. Using a No. 1 Phillips screwdriver, replace and tighten the two screws that secure the connector board to the energy storage backplane as shown in panel 2 of Installing the Connector Board Assembly.
4. Reinstall the power distribution board.
5. Reinstall the motherboard assembly.
6. Reinstall both fan boards.
7. Reinstall the fan modules.
8. Replace the top chassis cover.
9. Return the system to the installed position.
10. Reconnect any power cables that were disconnected before the connector board was removed.
11. Restore power to the system.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
