420R product knowledge/training to be qualified as Oracle service personel.

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty DC-DC Converter

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Then power down the system and disconnect the Power Cord. Then Position the System for Service, Remove the System Cover, Avoid Electrostatic Discharge.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Removal:

1. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, loosen the captive screw securing the DC-to-DC converter assembly to the main logic board.
2. Lift the converter straight up, disconnecting it from its main logic board connectors.
Use the two holes in the top of the converter's metal cage as finger grips.

Installation:

1. Align the DC-to-DC converter with its position in the chassis.  Make sure to align the two converter connectors with their main logic board connectors.
2. Lower the converter into place on the main logic board.
3. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, tighten the captive screw that secures the DC-to-DC converter assembly to the main logic board.

4. Replace the System Cover

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart system and have the System administrator verify functionality of system.
