*DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS*

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Hardware FE skills, familiarity or training for T2000 platform.

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Replacement of Front I/O board (this board provides the front USB ports (USB2 & USB3), and connects to the front LED board and fan power boards).

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Customer should shut the operating system down gracefully (using "init 5"), and after the system has shut down run the following commands from the ALOM:

1. setlocator on
2. poweroff

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Remove the Front I/O board:

1. Verify the system has been shut down by the customer.

2. Gain access to the top of the server. If it is necessary to slide the server forward, ensure adequate cable management is in place so that cables do not become disconnected or damaged.

3. Open the top cover, following ESD procedures

4. Remove the three fan modules

5. Disengage the fan power board from the front I/O board

6. Remove the Fan Guard

7. Disconnect the Front I/O Board's data cable

8. Remove the LED board:

8.1. Remove the screws that secure the LED board to the chassis

8.2. Slide the LED board to the right to disconnect it from the front I/O board.

8.3. Remove the LED board from the chassis

9. Remove the screw that secures the front I/O board to the chassis

10. Slide the front I/O board back, tilt it up, clear the two mounting tabs in the front, and lift the board straight out of the chassis

Install the replacement Front I/O board: Perform steps 10 through 4 above (in reverse order). Ensure all connections are replaced.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FE/CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot system and monitor boot sequence for errors. Test functionality of system:
1. Run the Solaris "fmadm faulty" and SP/ILOM "show faulty" command (if only ALOM is supported run "showfaults -v" command) to verify that the fault has been cleared.
2. Perform one of the following tasks based on your verification results:
   * If the previous steps did not clear the fault, refer to doc 1004229.1 for information about the tools and methods you can use to diagnose and clear component faults.
   * If the previous steps indicate that no faults have been detected, then the component has been replaced successfully. No further action is required
3. Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
