CONFIRM THE FAULT BY CHECKING:

Verify through SIM Log and BY using Maintenance Mode of SVP .

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

It Is very important that the Hosts Multipathing software be verified as working before the procedure is started. The CHA PCB is the hosts interface connection to the frame . When the CHA PCB is off-lined , access to the LDEV will be lost if alternate paths to the LDEV are not configured and working correctly through alternate CHA PCB's .

It is also not recommended to perform this procedure during a period of heavy I/O .

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

- Customer verify that mulitpathing works on Hosts accessing the Frame

- Enter maintenance mode in SVP

- Select failing component and initiate replacement

- Replace CHA

- Continue SVP recovery process

- Complete Sim

CONFIRM THE FIX BY:

Verify through the maintenance mode on the SVP , Verify that the customer has access to CHA ports.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Verify that the host in use have access to the Ldev through All Paths .
