WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

HDS Product Training and SVP operation.

TIME ESTIMATE: 12 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

On site Personnel pulled the EPO due to an environmental emergency and the frame was shutdown abruptly. Normally this condition will not trigger a SIM Alert .

CONFIRM THE FAULT BY CHECKING:

Physically check the EPO switch . On later models ( RAID500 and Later ) There is an EPO LED that will be illuminated on the operator panel if the EPO has been tripped .

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The hosts accessing the array should be quiesced in regards to the frame.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Must reset the EPO as described in the Safety section of the maintenance manuals.

CONFIRM THE FIX BY:

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Reboot Accessing host and mount file systems .
