FixDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?) System Controller Application (ScApp) Time Estimate: 60 minutes Task Complexity: 4 FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS PROBLEM OVERVIEW: System Controller Failure WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The following "canned" procedure assumes that SC environment is redundant (there are two SCs). If there are two SCs, then domains will not be affected by this procedure. If the configuration is not redundant, the procedure to replace the SC is more complicated and requires that all domains are shut down prior to the service action plan. Instead of using the instructions in this document refer to the System Service Manuals referenced at the bottom of this document.
In the instructions below, examples use a location of "#". The following "canned" procedure assumes that SC environment is redundant (there are two SCs). DO NOT PROCEED WITH THE FOLLOWING IF YOUR CONFIGURATION IS NOT REDUNDANT. SEE INSTRUCTIONS LISTED ABOVE. 1) Identify if the SC you need to replace is currently the Main SC:
Main System Controller V2 SC Failover: enabled and active. Clock failover enabled. If it is the Main SC, failover to the other SC:
2) Power off the SC (from the new MAIN):
SSC#: powered off 3) Perform the physical replacement (Service Manual links below). When the new SC is inserted, it should power on automatically and load both SCApp and RTOS.
See the following doc for details on the procedure: Firmware Download and update procedure for Sun Fire[TM] v1280, 3800, 4800, 4810, 6800, E2900, E4900, E6900, and Netra 1280, 1290 systems. (Doc ID 1006281.1) 5) Turn SC Failover back on:
SC Failover: enabled but not active. Platform.SC: Clock failover enabled. Platform.SC: SC Failover: private link is up, attempt to sync
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
