WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Sun Storagetek VSM or V2X Training, including DOP.
TIME ESTIMATE: 150 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 4
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
FRU is fenced and a CFE is available in the GFR menu.
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Most FRU replacements are non disruptive so the system can remain online. See Doc 1477471.1 for guidance on the replacement of specific FRUs.
WHAT ACTIONS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Repair/replace fenced FRU as directed by the Guided FRU Replacement (GFR) process.
GFR with MIM/CFEID With LOP (Local Op Panel)
1. Log on to the VSM using the CSE password
2. Go to Guided FRU Replacement Menu GR01.
3. Press F4 to go to List Composite Failure Events Menu GR21.
4. Select the CFE ID for the fenced FRU to be replaced.
5. Follow the Script on the Screen.
GFR with MIM/CFEID With DOP (Detached Op Panel)
1. Log on via DOP
2. To access the CSE Main Menu type a valid CSE password in the data entry window of the Main /Login screen.
3. On the CSE Main Menu Screen click Guided Fru Replacement.
4. Click List Composite Failure Event(CFE).
5. Click CFE to highlight it’s active field.
6. Click the Rplc radio button next to the suspect FRU.
7. Follow the Script on the Screen
Note:
Time Estimate will vary depending on fenced part and microcode level.
CONFIRM THE FIX BY:
Check sub-system availability and that customer has all devices and channels back online and fully functional.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Confirm that all devices and chanels are back online, if applicable.
