Fix

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED: Sun Storagetek VSM, including DOP

TIME ESTIMATE: 120 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 4

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : Customer should have varied the RTD on line prior to dispatch.

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

WHAT ACTIONS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Check for stuck cartridge and or remove the Cartridge per Service Manual instructions.

2. IPL the Transport per Service Manual instructions.

3. Run diagnostics on the tape drive.

4. Replace the Transport per Installation instructions if drive diagnostics indicate a bad drive.

5. If drive continues to go offline escalate to NDPC for further analysis.

CONFIRM THE FIX BY:
1. Test RTD function
2. Status display

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: Vary RTD back on line.
