WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED:
V210 Product Training and field experience

Time Estimate: 50 minutes

Task Complexity: 1

*FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS*

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:  Faulty System Board or included component on system board

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
System should be powered down.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:
Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge

Engineer will need to have a 5mm wrench to remove board from system.

Removing the System Board

1. Ensure power is off on server.

2. Open the back section of the cover.

3. Disconnect the power supply wiring harness.

4. Disconnect the interface board SCSI and IDE cables.

5. Remove any PCI cards taking note of slot they occupy.

6. Remove the PCI slider Assembly.

7. Remove the server fan assembly.

8. Unscrew and remove the DB-9 and SCSI jackposts using the 5mm wrench on the server's back panel.

9. Unscrew the system board. (ten screws from chassis)

10. Slide the board forward in the chassis so connections come free from back panel.

11. Lift the system board out of chassis.

Installing the System Board

1. Insert System Board using care that slots line up properly in chassis.

2. Insert all system board fixing screws loosely. Do not put any screws in the holes for thePCI

card slide retainer. These holes are identified by a circle printed around their circumference.

3. Install the PCI slider assembly. The arrow embossed on the slider should point to the rear of server.

4. Install any PCI cards you removed.

5. Reconnect all system board cables and wiring harnesses.

6. Tighten all screws and Install server's cover.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FE/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Boot the system and verify all components are working properly by verifying POST has completed. Logon to root account after booted and running the command # prtdiag ensuring all components present.

PARTS NOTE:
5mm Wrench is need for removal of system Board
