Nothing beyond basic partner training to be qualified as a Sun Service Delivery Partner.

*FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS*
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Memory failure
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Note: There are four memory module sockets per processor on the server’s system board. Memory is supplied by Oracle in paired DIMMS. Ensure that you use the DIMM pairs as supplied and do not mix them.

Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
Replacing Memory
1. Power down the server and disconnect the power cable.
2. Open the back cover.
3. Locate the correct DIMM socket.
4. Open the latches at the sides of the socket.
5. Remove the module from the DIMM socket.
6. Press the new memory module in the DIMM socket.
7. Press down until the clips snap into place.
8. Close the rear cover.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
