How to replace a failed drive.

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

SE9910/9960/9970 ST9980/9985/9990 Overview, Training on drive replacement and SVP operation.

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: (ATR#401)
HITRACK DYNAMIC SPARING(DRIVE COPY)NORMAL END

CONFIRM THE FAULT BY CHECKING:

Check fault LED at FRU Location and maintenance mode on the SVP

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO REPLACE THE PART?

This procedure is Non-Intrusive and can be performed on a Live system.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE TO REPLACE THE PART:

1. Replace Failed Drive (indicated in FRU Location) following SVP and Maintenance Manual instructions.
2. Confirm Drive Replacement
3. Complete SIM.

For the exact steps refer to the appropriate Manuals listed below for the desired model frame .

CONFIRM THE FIX BY:

Confirming the Copyback completion SIM is received .

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

No Action required as this is performed on Live system and performed unperceived by the host .
