FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Faulty cable

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge

1. Ensure the server is powered off.
2. Ensure that the server is properly grounded.
3. Open the back section of the server.
4. Open the front section of the server.
5. Replace the appropriate cable from the cable kit, ensuring that the cable is correctly aligned and seated.

CONFIRM THE FIX BY:

1. Ensure that the system boots and the problem related to the cable is resolved.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FE/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Re-boot system and ensure that full system functionality is achieved.
