Goal
This document identifies the procedures and documents required to update firmware on the Sun Storedge Series 3XX0 arrays. The includes models 3310, 3510, 3511 and 3320. Prior to any upgrade, the administrator (or technician) should completely familiarize themselves with the specific procedure detailed in the appropriate document.

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:
TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes
TASK COMPLEXITY: 0
FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
All procedures for firmware upgrades are provided within the Read Mefile of the patch. Use the latest version of the patch for your array type.
Other important references:
- Here is an internal matrix of the complete patch revision history. (In the event you are not upgrading to the latest firmware)
- This document does not cover the very specific firmware upgrade from 3.x to 4.x. You need to follow the special Firmware Migration Guide.
- This document does not cover the separate update of disk drive firmware.
- These patches explain how to update Raid code, SES code and PLD code for the 3510 and 3511.
- These patches explain how to update Raid code, and Safete code for the 3310 and 3320.
Prior to any scheduled upgrade, the Administrator (or technician) should have completed the following.
- Review of the appropriate Patch Read Me file for their specific array.
- The latest sscs software must be installed on the in-band data host that the array is servicing. See Document 1004352.1
- You need to be able to connect to the array with the sccli utility.
- The serial port (tip) cable should be installed and tested to verify you can connect to the console interface of the array.
Here is an overview of some of the critically important sccli command and outputs for the respective arrays being updated. Once again, the Readme file for each patch contains all the verbose details and instructions you will need.
