PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Fire X4100, X4100 M2, X4200, X4200 M2 CPU needs replacement
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Note: Require adjustable torque driver
Orderly shutdown of applications on server
Full backup is recommended as a precaution
Shutdown of OS and power down of server
WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed

5. Remove heatsink by slightly twisting and lifting up. Place heatsink upside down on clean area
6. Pull CPU lever slightly away from socket and then pull up from horizontal to vertical position
7. Lift the CPU out of the socket
8. Align new CPU module with socket by matching triangle printed on one corner of the CPU with the triangle printed on socket and insert by gently pushing pins into socket
9. Close the CPU lever (vertical to horizontal)
10. Use alcohol pad to clean old thermal grease from heatsink
11. Use one syringe of thermal grease and apply onto heatsink in 3 lines ( 2 diagonal lines and one horizontal)
12. Align heatsink over CPU and place down whilst aligning screw holes on motherboard
13. Use adjustable torque set to 7 in-lbs (0.8 Nm) to tighten screws by turning 180 degrees and alternating between screws
14. Re-install the main cover
15. Re-connect power cords
