M8000/M9000 training DELIVERY REQUIREMENT: As scheduled TASK COMPLEXITY: 2 Time Estimate: 150 minutes FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? Data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. Customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. Power down system. WHAT ACTION DOES ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: Cold replacement with power down is required SWBP is located behind IOUs in rear of M8000 SWBP is located behind IOUs in rear of un-expanded M9000 SWBP#0 is located behind IOUs in rear of the base cabinet of the expanded M9000 SWBP#1 is located behind IOUs in rear of expansion cabinet of expanded M9000 1. Customer should perform an orderly shutdown of domains 2. Change mode switch setting on operator panel from Locked to Service 3. From a console that is connected to XSCF, log in and execute poweroff -a command 4. Confirm that power-off processing is completed by confirming that POWER LED (green) on operator panel is off Note: On a M9000 with an expansion cabinet, base cabinet should be switched off first, then expansion cabinet. 5. Switch off all main line switches for AC section (ACS) in power supply system 6. Remove IOUs a. Turn knob screws securing upper and lower eject/lock levers 90 to 180 degrees to unlock levers. b. Unlock eject/lock levers to pull IOU off backplane. c. While grasping handle at front of IOU, pull IOU out partially until NEAR TO END label comes into view. d. Raise handle at upper part of IOU. e. While grasping front and upper handles of IOU, pull it out slowly from slot. 7. Remove SWBP to be replaced. a. Disconnect 5 (M9000) or 3 (M8000) signal cables and two power cords from BP while unlocking connectors. Note - Be sure to press both lock release buttons inward and pull connector when removing SAS cables (lock release buttons of connector are yellow). b. Loosen 2 screws securing SWBP. c. Pull out SWBP carefully. 8. Place removed SWBP on an antistatic conductive mat. Installation is reverse of above procedure Note 1 - Do not forcibly push SWBP in when inserting it. Note 2 - Connector on left edge of base plate of switch BP is not used for M8000 Note 3 - On M9000 with an expansion cabinet, expansion cabinet should be switched on first, then base cabinet. 9. Switch on all main line switches for AC section (ACS) in power supply system. 10. Confirm that XSCF STANDBY LED (green) on operator panel remains lit. If blinking, wait until it remains lit. Caution !! When maintenance work is completed, confirm mode switch setting and return switch to Locked.
