The engineer should be M8000 trained TASK COMPLEXITY: 2 TIME ESTIMATE: 150 minutes FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution. The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown. WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE: Recommend the engineer download Service Manual 819-4202. - Cold Replacement: 1. Change OPNL from Locked to Service. 2. Ensure customer has powered down domains. 3. Confirm POWER LED on OPNL is off. 4. Switch off all main line switches. 5) Check XSCF STANDBY LED on OPNL goes out. - Part Replacement 1. Pull all CMUs, two DDC's, and two XSCF's from the front of the cabinet. 2. From the rear of the cabinet: a. Remove the grounding wire on top of the rear door. b. Remove all FAN units on the I/O unit. c. Loosen thumb screws from duct and remove duct. d. Loosen four thumb screws on left and right sides of fan shelf. e. Grasping handle of fan shelf, pull out partially. Use indentations on sides of fan shelf to pull out fan shelf. f. Remove all mounted I/O units (IOUs) and filler panels. g. Loosen two knob screws on both sides of IOU shelf and two screws on innermost part of shelf. h. Grasping frame of IOU shelf, pull out partially, then grasp by indentations on its side, and remove from cabinet. i. Loosen two retaining screws of Lshaped box on left side to remove box. j. Loosen retaining screws on left and right sides to remove horizontal IOU-fan connector panel on far side. Disconnect cables and remove connector on right side. - Remove the BP a. Using a torque wrench (box driver size: M6), remove four bolts that hold part shaped like an inverted L at top edge of bus bar of BP. b. Grasping lock of connector, remove every cable connected to BP. Note: Be sure to press both lock releases inward and pull connector when removing SAS cables (lock releases are yellow). c. Arrange cables so that connectors do not get caught in anything while removing BP. d. Loosen eight thumb screws securing BP. e. Grasping the two handles of BP, remove BP by moving it carefully along guide rails. 3. Mount replacement BP by following removal instructions in reverse order. Caution - For tightening the bus bar, choose a torque depending on bolt size. * M8 bolts, use a torque of 8.24 N*m (84 kgf*cm). * M6 bolts, use a torque of 3.73 N*m (38 kgf*cm). a. Once replacement is complete switch on all main line switches. b. Check status to ensure no fru's are degraded or faulted. c. Confirm that the XSCF STANDBY LED on OPNL remains lit. d. Start (power on) all domains. e. Return mode switch on OPNL to its original position. OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE: None ========================= Other Info ========================= PARTS NOTE: Caution - Be sure not to hit the connector parts on anything when mounting the fan shelf. The connector on the edge of the base plate of the switch BP is not used to connect the cable of the BP of the M8000. Be aware of this when connecting cables.
