DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
The engineer should be M8000/M9000 trained

DELIVERY REQUIREMENT:
As scheduled

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

Time Estimate: 150 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

Then power down the system.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Cold replacement with power down is required

FANBP_C#0 is located behind the fans in the front bottom of the M8000
FANBP_C#1 is located behind the fans in the rear middle of the M8000

1. Customer should perform an orderly shutdown of the domains.
2. Change the mode switch setting on the operator panel from Locked to Service.
3. From a console that is connected to XSCF, log in to XSCF, and execute the poweroff -a command.
4. Confirm that the power-off processing is completed by confirming that the POWER LED (green) on the operator panel is off.
5. Switch off all main line switches for the AC section (ACS) in the power supply system.
6. Remove all six FAN units. After the FAN units are removed, return the fan fixing brackets at their original locations, and secure them temporarily.
7. Using a Phillips screwdriver, loosen the thumb screws on the left and right sides of the fan shelf.
8. While grasping the handle at the lower center of the fan shelf, pull out the fan shelf carefully.
9. Remove the FANBP to be replaced from the fan shelf.
10. Place the removed BP on an antistatic conductive mat.

Installation is the reverse of the above procedure

Note 1 - To mount a FAN BP on a fan shelf that has a guide pin, align the FAN BP with the guide pin during mounting.
Note 2 - Be sure not to hit connector parts of the BP against anything. Otherwise, the connection pins may be seriously damaged.

11. Switch on all main line switches for the AC section (ACS) in the power supply system.
12. Confirm that the XSCF STANDBY LED (green) on the operator panel remains lit. If it is blinking, wait until it remains lit.

Caution !! When the maintenance work is completed, be sure to confirm the mode switch setting and return the switch to Locked.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Boot & check for full functionality

Confirm hardware fix by running the following commands:
XSCF> showhardconf -M
XSCF> showstatus

PARTS NOTE:

None
