Goal

How to Remove and Replace an L180/L700/L1400 Op Panel:ATR:967:2

There is no display on the operator panel or the panel does not function correctly.

• Defective AC PDU
• Defective DC power supply
• Defective operator panel (MPO card).
• Defective cable or connection between MPC/MPCL card to MPO (operator panel) card
• Defective MPC/MPCL card

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)

Trained on Lxxx Oracle/STK Tape Library

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Library and drives must be taken offline by the customer.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Have the customer place the library and drives offline.
2. Open the right front door
3. Is the PDU breaker on? Yes: Go to step 5.
No: Turn on breaker.
4. Does the breaker trip? Yes: Go to "TIP 1000: Power---AC PDU" . (L700/1400 Service Manual, PN 95846, Chap. 3)
No: Go to step 5.
5. Is the operator panel lit? Yes: Go to step 6.
No: "TIP 2000: Power---DC Power" on page 3-7. (L700/1400 Service Manual, PN 95846, Chap. 3)
6. Open the left front access door and check the hand LEDs.
Are they lit?
Yes: Go to Step 7.
No: Go to "TIP 2000: Power---DC Power". (L700/1400 Service Manual, PN 95846, Chap. 3)
7. Use the panel buttons to enter a test or move to a different screen.

Does the panel work?
No: Replace in this order, checking for operation after each step:
1. Replace the MPO (operator panel) assembly
2. Replace the cable from the MPC/MPCL card to the operator panel
3. Replace the MPC/MPCL logic card

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Have customer bring the library and drives back on line.
