DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
M3000 trained

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

Time Estimate: 120 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

* The server must be fully shut down and the power cords disconnected.
* Do not operate the system with empty slots. Always insert a filler panel into an empty slot to reduce the possibility of system shut down.
* Take ESD Precautions.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

A. Accessing the CD-RW/DVD-RWDrive Unit
  1. Power off the server using the poweroff -a command at the XSCF command prompt.  Verify the POWER LED is off, and disconnect the power cords.
  2. Slide the server out from the equipment rack.
  3. Remove the top cover.
B. Removing the CD-RW/DVD-RW Drive Unit
  1. Remove the cables connected to the CD-RW/DVD-RW drive unit.
  2. While pushing the black lever upward, push the CD-RW/DVD-RW drive unit toward the front side to remove it from the server
  3. Place the drive unit on the conductive mat.
C. Mounting the CD-RW/DVD-RWDrive Unit.
  1. Align the CD-RW/DVD-RW drive unit with the drive slot, and then slowly push the unit in until it locks in position.
D. Reassembling the Server
  1. Attach the top cover.
  2. If the equipment rack is supplied with a Quake-Resistant Options Kit or stabilizer, return to its original position
  3. Power on the server.
    Connect all the power cords to power outlets.
    Verify that the XSCF STANDBY LED on the operator panel is on.
    Turn the mode switch on the operator panel to the desired mode position
  4. Confirm hardware fix by running the following commands:
    XSCF> showhardconf -M
    XSCF> showstatus
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Verify functionality, no service LEDs or messages
