DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Engineer should be M4000/M5000 product trained

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

TIME ESTIMATE: 45 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1. Turn key switch to the Service position, confirming that the POWER LED is off, and disconnect power cables

Remove the I/O unit
1. Disconnect and label all the cables that connect to the I/O unit.
2. Remove the cassettes from the I/O unit.
3. Disconnect the cabinet end of the cable management arm.
4. Using a No. 1 screwdriver, press the lock button on the left side of the I/O unit to free the unit release lever
5. Lower the unit release lever to unseat the I/O unit.
6. Remove the I/O unit from the slot and place it on the ESD mat.

Remove the I/O Unit DC-DC Converter (DDC_A #0 or DDC_B #0)
1. Loosen the 2 screws at the front of the I/O unit
2. Remove the cover from the I/O unit.
3. Loosen the 3 screws that hold the metal bracket in place and tilt the bracket towards the front of the I/O unit to expose the inside of the I/O unit.
4. A small cable is passed through a hole in the bracket. Disconnect the cable and pass it through the hole in the bracket before moving the bracket to prevent damage to the cable. It is not necessary to remove the entire bracket.
5. Remove the I/O Unit DC-DC Converter, taking care not to damage the converter retainers, if fitted, and place on an anti-static mat.

If the same fault remains after the replacement then please see doc 1002928.1 for information on manually clearing the fault.

Note 1 !! If there is a label on the Converter this should be removed for re-use
Note 2 !! DDC_A #0 and DDC_B #0 are not interchangeable. DDC_B #0 is on the riser and has a heatsink

Installation is the reverse of the above procedure

Boot and check for full functionality

Confirm the hardware by running the following commands:

XSCF> showhardconf -M
XSCF> showstatus
