Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS*

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
S3000 series training

TIME ESTIMATE: 15 minutes

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

System can be up and running with I/O enabled as long as the connection between the hosts/switches and the array is redundant

(i.e. alternate path and path failover mechanism in place). In case it is not , I/O should be stopped.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

1) Identify the defective SFP by looking at the array SFP link status LEDs or locate the previously-identified faulty SFP port.

If a link status LED is off, it means that the SFP is empty, it has no FC connection, or the FC connection failed. Note SFP port (FC0 - FC5)

2) Unplug the FC Cable from the SFP in the array (mark or note the cable so that it can be identified later)

3) Unplug the faulty SFP from the SFP port

4) Slide the new SFP into the SFP port until it locks into place

5) Plug the FC cable identified in step 2 into the SFP

6) Verify SFP connection and that path is online

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

If host was shutdown, bring system back up.

Confirm path and LUN/disk availability from host
