OTube How to Remove and Replace Sun Fire V480/V490 Power Distribution Board

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Field training in Sun Fire V480/V490 Server

- TIME ESTIMATE: 60 min
- TASK COMPLEXITY:    3

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
PDB faulty

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
Cold Part swap system down -

A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Follow the below steps before replacement of PDU
a. power off the system and remove power cord.
b. Slide the system out of the Rack
c. Avoid Electrostatic Discharge
d. Remove the Power supply Access Panel
e. Remove A Power Supply
f. Remove the PCI Access Panel
g. Remove Fan Tray 1
h. Remove the FC-AL Data Cable
i. Remove the RSC Card
j. Remove a PCI Card
k. Remove the PCI Riser Board
l. Remove the CPU Access Panel
m. Remove a CPU/Memory Board
n. Remove the centerplane
2. Using a long-stem phillips No. 2 screwdriver, loosen the two screws at the rear corners of the power distribution board.Insert your screwdriver through the rear hole in the chassis stiffner to get direct contact with the screw on the cPU-side of the system


Note - Do not remove the two rear corner screws

3. Using a long-stem phillips no. 2 screw driver remove the four remaining screws scuring the power distribution board to the chassis

4. Remove the power distribution board from the system
a. Slide the power distribution board toward the front of the system
b. Tilt the power distirbution board and remove it from the system through the PCI riser board access bay

5. Place the power distribution board on an antistatic mat

6. Place the power distribution board inside the chassis
7. Slide the power distribution board back under the two rear corner screws

8. Using a long-stem phillips no. 2 screw driver, replace the first four screws that secure the power distribution board to the chassis

9. Place all the component back in reverse order as mentioned in point no. 1


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
