DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Field training in Sun Fire V480/V490 Server

- TIME ESTIMATE: 45 min
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
System Control Switch / Power button failure

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
System powered off is required.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Power Off the system
2. Remove the power supply access panel
3. Slide the system out of the cabinet
4. Remove the PCI access panel
5. Remove Fan tray 1
6. Remove the fc-al backplane
7. Remove the removable media assembly
8. Disconnect the system control switch/power button cable from J1401 on the PCI riser board.
9. Disconnect the Fan Tray 0 power cable from J2302 on the PCI riser board.
10. Using a Phillips No. 1 screwdriver, remove the two screws securing the media door assembly to the chassis.
11. Push the media door assembly up and pull it forward to unhook it from the chassis.
12. Carefully tip the media door assembly forward.
13. Remove the system control switch/power button cable mounting plate from the media door assembly.
14. With one hand, cradle the media door assembly facedown in front of the drive bay.
15. With your other hand, attach the system control switch/power button cable mounting plate to the media door assembly.
16. Insert the two tabs on the media door assembly frame into their corresponding slots on the front of the chassis.
17. Replace the two Phillips No. 1 screws that secure the media door assembly to the chassis.
18. Route the Fan Tray 0 cable behind the faceplate, and connect it to J2302 on the PCI riser board.
19. Route the system control switch/power button cable behind the centerplane-side Fan Tray 1 bracket, and connect it to J1401 on the PCI riser board.


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Verify the Power Button/LED is working fine. Power On the system and start the applications
