DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Field training in Sun Fire V880/V890 Server
- TIME ESTIMATE: 45 min
- TASK COMPLEXITY: 1
FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Keyswitch/Power Button/Front LED failure
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.
System powered off is required.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
*** Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
1. Power Off the system
2. Open and remove the side door
3. Remove the two Phillips screws securing the bezel to the front of the system.
4. Remove the two No. 2 Phillips screws and the three No. 1 Phillips screws securing the system status assembly to the front of the system.
5. Carefully remove the status assembly from the front of the system.
6. Disconnect the system status cable (P31) from the connector on the status assembly.
7. Attach the system status cable (P31) to the connector on the side of the system status assembly.
8. Align the status assembly into position on the front of the system.
9. Close the side door
10. Power On the system
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Just verify the function of the component replaced
