PROBLEM OVERVIEW:

Power Supply Unit (PSU) Failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : n/a

 

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

 

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

 

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

 

1a) If system is a Sun Fire E2900 or v1280, REMOVE left input air filter.

  • These systems are qualified to operate without this filter and Sun Alert 1021703.1 provides the basis for this action.
  • Please insert "FILTER REMOVED" in comments section of the ATR feedback for this action plan to validate this action was taken.
  • This system should also be operating at least ScApp 5.20.14 (Patch 114527-15); See Sun Alert 1021703.1 for justification.

1b) If system is a Netra 1280 or 1290, the customer is required to order and replace left input air filter as soon as possible (PN X6806A-Z).

1c) If system type is Sun Fire 3800, 4800, 4810, 6800, E4900, or E6900, skip to step 2.

In instructions below, examples use a location of "#". This type of FRU is a Hot swappable.

 

2) From Main SC or lom prompt:

SC> poweroff ps#

PS#: powered off

 

3) Perform physical replacement. PSU can be removed when "ok to remove" LED is lit.

 

4) After PSU has been inserted, from Main SC or lom prompt:

SC> poweron ps#

PS#: powered on

 

5) If the issue persist after PSU replacement contact Oracle support and ask to follow the steps indicated into
