Field training in Sun Fire 280R Server

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Faulty Crypto Accelerator I card

- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE
RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge
1. Ensure the server is powered off.
2. Ensure that the server is properly grounded.
3. Remove top cover
4. Identify the PCI Slot
5. If there are Cables to be removed, label the cables and disconnect
6. Pull the Crypto Card card from its slot.
7. Locate the replacement Crypto card in the appropriate slot, press it firmly into the connector and screw it.
8. Refit cover.
9. Restore any cables removed in previous step.
10. Ensure that system powers on and passes POST diagnostics. If applicable, ask the customer
to verify proper system operation. If some circumstance occurs that results in the system being
in a state that is degraded from that of before the repair, and it cannot be easily remedied,
please contact the support center for further diagnosis.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO
AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
System administrator needs to verify functionality of system.

Slot 1 is to the right when viewing the system from the back, Slot 4 is on the left (in the middle of the System board)
