Solution

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
PCI Riser card failure

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

The system should be powered down.


WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Power to the server is off.
2. Remove the server cover
3. Open the rotating service module
4. Wear an antistatic band to avoid any electorstatic discharge
5. Completely remove the airduct and rear fan assembly
6. Using a No.2 Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the PCI lockdown screw on the back of the server
7. Remove the PCI lockdown bracket on the inside of the server
8. Mark the PCI cards with respective slots while removing
9. Pull up on the handle of the PCI cards support and slide the support clear of the PCI cards
10. Unseat the PCI cards from the connector & lift it out of the server
11. Unsrew the two captive screws which secure the PCI riser card to the system board
12. Pull riser card assembly vertically to detach it from the system board
13. Locate replacement riser card and press it home firmly
14. screw it in place 


WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Followup the start-up procedure as given by sys-admin & confirm the application running fine.

Booting the server and system has detected the PCI cards
