WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
Nothing beyond V440 server training

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
DVD drive failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

Power to the system must be shut off.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Follow standard ESD procedures to avoid Electrostatic Discharge

DVD-ROM must be removed while power unplugged!!!

1. Press down on the two DVD-ROM drive locking tabs, releasing the DVD-ROM
drive from its cage.

2. Pull out the DVD-ROM drive from the front of the system.

3. Slide the DVD-ROM drive into the system until the two DVD-ROM drive locking
tabs click into place.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
