Goal

Procedure for un-enrolling tape drives for use within OKM encryption environments.

Solution

Unenrolling the Tape Drive

Use the MD-VOP to unenroll the tape drive:

1) Navigate to the Tape Library tab and then to the Drive State View tab. Select the drive using Ctrl-Click.

2) Navigate to the Drive Operations sub-tab. Select Set Selected Drives Offline in This Library. Confirm in the popup that appears. Mouse over this drive to confirm that it went Offline. Its icon should also turn gray to indicate that it is now Offline.

3) Left-click the drive icon to show it in a single-drive VOP view. Select Reset Drive from the Drive Operations menu to reset the drive. Wait until the reset completes.

4) From the Encryption sub-tab (not the Encryption View tab), select Unenroll Drives in This Library.... A dialog appears.

Notice the title "Enter Tab Delimited Spreadsheet File Name" and "/.mdvop" folder displayed in the pulldown above the Folders and Files listings. Widen this dialog so that both the Folders and the Files listings are visible. In the Files listing, select the "Drives.csv" file and click the OK button.

Notice that the title has changed to "Certificate Directory". Navigate to the "/.mdvop/Tormore" directory (where KMA certificates reside) and click the Enter Certificate Directory button.
Confirm in the popup that appears.

5) Navigate to the Drive State View tab. Mouse over the drive icon and confirm that the drive is unenrolled.
