Goal

For an overview of the available versions of the Sun SPARC(R) Enterprise M3000, M4000, M5000, M8000, and M9000 XCP Firmware Image software (XCP) and to inform where and how to obtain the appropriate images, please read "Sun SPARC[TM] Enterprise M3000, M4000, M5000, M8000, M9000 XSCF Control Package (XCP) Firmware Image Software Version Matrix Information (Doc ID 1002631.1)" .

To cross reference bugs to the XCP versions containing the fix, please refer to "SPARC Enterprise M3000/M4000/M5000/M8000/M9000 - XCP Firmware to Defect Cross Reference (Doc ID 1380260.1)".

The following table lists supported hardware, firmware and operating system (OS) combinations, as well as required software patches. Column 3 lists the minimum XCP release for each server/processor combination.

Solution

Always refer to a patch's README for information about patch requirements and special installation instructions. The two-digit suffix of each patch represents the minimum revision level of the patch. Check http://myoraclesupport.com for the latest patch revision. Apply patches in the order listed.

Note - Oracle recommends you install the latest Patch Recommended OS Cluster for all releases that support it.

Caution - Before installing any processor - such as the SPARC64 VII+ processor - verify that your server satisfies all requirements for that processor type. Such requirements include minimum required XCP firmware and Oracle Solaris OS versions, and all required patches.

The minimum required system controller XCP revision is listed in column three.  The remaining columns list the domain Solaris release supported and whether any patches are required.  See the notes below the table.
