PreviouslyPublishedAs 276070 Applies to:Sun StorageTek 9840D Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable and laterSun StorageTek T10000B Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable and later Sun StorageTek T10000A Tape Drive - Version Not Applicable and later All Platforms GoalWhenever you receive a new T10000 or 9840D spare tape drive for replacement you must configure that drive for the correct interface type. SolutionThe same drive brick is used for both FIBRE CHANNEL and FICON drive replacements. You must first select the type of interface the drive will use then the interface related options must be set such as the emulation type. Process: (Drive Operations>Set Offline) Navigate to the interface setup screen. (Configure>Drive Data>FIBRE) Verify if the drive is set for Fibre Channel or FICON. The factory default is to set this for Fibre Channel. If you need to change the interface type, do this first before setting interface options. If you need to change the type to FICON, click the FICON button on the bottom of the screen and press the Commit button. The drive will IPL. Once the drive comes back it will have interface options based on the fact that it is now a FICON drive. The emulation types available will be related to a FICON drive such as 3592, VSM mode, etc. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
