Goal

Which drive model types are supported by HSC in the SL3000 tape library?
Which drive model types are supported by HSC in the SL8500 tape library?
What media types are supported by HSC in the SL3000 and SL8500 tape libraries?
Which transports are supported by HSC in the SL3000 and SL8500 tape libraries?

Solution

The following describes the allowed transport (drive) model types, by library:

SL8500 library

  • T9840A
  • T9840B
  • T9840C
  • T9840D
  • T9940B
  • LTO
  • SDLT
  • T10000A
  • T10000B
  • T10000C
  • T10000D

SL3000 library

  • T9840C
  • T9840D
  • LTO
  • SDLT
  • T10000A
  • T10000B
  • T10000C
  • T10000D

Please note that the LTO and SDLT model types are only allowed in an HSC controlled library for use by LibraryStation clients.  These two drive types cannot be connected to a mainframe.
