How to Reset a Lost SC Domain Shell Password.

Solution

Procedure to reset a lost SC Domain Shell password.

This document assumes you are on a Sun Fire[TM]3800/4800/4810/6800/E4900/E6900 Server running ScApp 5.14.2 or later. It also assumes that you have admin level access to the SC Platform Shell.

In order to set a new password for a specific SC Domain Shell , you will need to get into the SC Platform shell. Once you are in the SC Platform Shell, you can either enter a new password, or hit <Enter> twice to erase the current  SC Domain Shell password.

Perform the following command at the platform shell on the Main SC:

SC> password -d X <enter>
Enter new password:
Enter new password again:
SC>

(Where X is the letter of the domain as in the example listed below showing Domain B)

Once you have access to the SC Domain shell, you can then set a new password using the password command with no command line options. An example of resetting SC Domain B Shell password from the SC Platform Shell is listed below, followed by an example of resetting the SC Domain B Shell password from within the SC Domain B Shell:

SC> password -d B
Enter new password: <Enter>
Enter new password again: <Enter>
SC> console b

Enter new password again: <enter>
