Goal

A field engineer discovered a "6" or a "b" on an System Controller's LED display.
Realizing this wasn't the normal state, he requested the resolution center to research this. The normal state of this LED display is "0" once the post and boot have completed.

Solution

If a CP1500 board is not updated to the proper Open Boot Prom (OBP) and SSCPOST version, then it will not respond properly as a F15K System Controller, but will have the characteristics of an off-the-shelf CP1500 board used in other Sun[TM] systems.

The proper OBP version (nSCOBPimg) for the CP1500 is 3.14.6, while the post firmware version (SSCPOST) is available in document:

NOTE: The character "b" is normal output for a CP1500 used in other Sun platforms: the 7-segment LED should display a lower case "b" (for booted).
